Shivering, crying, and broken: this sweet 2-month-old girl had somehow survived the worst. Found in the middle of the street, her injuries suggested she had escaped from a car engine that was turned on with her inside, mutilating her body. The inflammation in her skull pointed to what we can only describe as a heinous, unthinkable act - she was kicked in the head.

A volunteer and friend of ours reached out to us when she stumbled upon this tiny kitten in the middle of the road. She couldn’t tell what was wrong with her, but it was clear that she was in pain and without help, would soon die a slow and painful death. As soon as we heard about her, we committed to helping. We met the kitten at the vet where we saw with our own eyes how bad of shape this girl truly was in.

Now known as Flora, this 2-month-old baby had a myriad of health complications, more than she should ever have to experience in a lifetime. Flora had feline coryza, which presents as a runny nose and eyes, sneezing, conjunctivitis, fever, and anorexia. Additionally, she was FULL of fleas, was missing a part of her ear, had a burn on her eye, had bloody eyes and nose, had head trauma causing inflammation in her skull, and had a dislocated front leg.

Flora was in good hands, but she had a long journey ahead of her. The abuse and trauma she had endured was heartbreaking, but we were doing everything we could to help her heal. After a few days in the hospital, Flora had to be admitted to the ICU as the symptoms from her concussion had become so severe. She was under constant supervision and received around-the-clock care and, eventually, things finally began to turn around.

After a month of extensive treatment, Flora was finally starting to improve. She was able to eat some wet food all on her own, which, of course, she got all over her face. We were thrilled to see Flora making a mess and beginning to romp around like a normal and healthy kitten. Flora's recovery journey is not over yet. She is still at the clinic being treated for an infection in her cropped ear and a serious injury to her tail, but she will be back on her feet soon.

Flora has endured unimaginable abuse and senseless violence, and would not be alive today without the compassion of so many people all around the world who were moved by her story. Words cannot express our gratitude for all the help we have received to save this kitten's life. Thanks to the outpouring of support, Flora now has a second chance to find her happy ending.
