Because of YOUR incredible support, Wyatt has completely transformed! When he was initially spotted on the streets of Cleveland, he was a shell of himself—broken, scared, and in need of major medical care. After undergoing surgery and weeks of recovery, Wyatt has blossomed both physically and emotionally. And just recently, he found his forever home, all thanks to you!
This poor boy was first discovered dragging his body in a desperate search for food. He was starving and in immense pain with a visibly broken and swollen leg. We didn’t know it then, but he had been shot, with a 9m bullet lodged in his body and a shattered femur bone. The person who found Wyatt offered him some food, which he devoured immediately. Who knows how long it had been since he had last had a full meal?
After receiving the call, we rushed to Wyatt’s aid, scooping him up and racing him to the vet clinic. The sight of him was hard to stomach: every rib was visible, and his flea-ridden fur was filthy. It was clear he had been on his own for a long time. We just wanted to do whatever we could to free this sweet baby from his agony.
Wyatt remained hospitalized for a few days as the vet prepared him for surgery, the only way to extract the bullet and heal his devastating break. In the meantime, the medical team administered a steady stream of pain relief to ease his discomfort. Of course, he was also given a much-needed, nourishing bath, which probably felt so good after being bogged down by all that dirt and grime!
The procedure was complicated, as the injury was two weeks old at that point, and Wyatt’s bones had already begun healing. Thanks to the vet’s careful and steadfast work, sweet Wyatt came out okay. The hardest part would be the 10-12 weeks of recovery ahead of him. Post-surgery, he was transferred to a foster home where he would spend that time healing. And, to our amazement, Wyatt began showcasing progress after just three days, much quicker than we initially thought!
This was also around the time when wish list items began pouring in, and Wyatt happily chomped down on bully sticks, munched on hearty food, and cozied up in his warm blankets. We also received lots of support to pay down his medical bills! There was a moment when Wyatt had to change fosters because he took too much interest in the original foster’s cat. But we transferred him easily and carefully, and he continued recovering at a remarkable rate.
Throughout recovery, Wyatt was so patient and kind. He just looked so happy to finally be receiving the care he deserved. There was one time when he ran when he wasn’t supposed to, but for the most part, he enjoyed just sprawling out in the grass and trotting around while supervised on a leash outside. Then there came the best news: after just two weeks, Wyatt had the green light to run, play, and enjoy life just like any other dog–YIPEE!
Soon after this wonderful moment, Wyatt was lovingly adopted. Now, after all he's been through, Wyatt is rewarded with his exceptional new life in Colorado Springs, CO! When he arrived at his forever home, he selected his favorite chair, which he enjoys lounging in. He regularly walks down to his neighborhood pet store to pick out a new toy, and he and his mom love to explore the many hiking trails near his home.
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide Wyatt with the crucial medical care he needed to recover and know what it means to be truly loved and cared for. His start to life was heartbreaking, but through your support, we were able to rewrite his life. As we type this, Wyatt is safe at home, and we are forever grateful. Thank you so much for taking a chance on this sweet pup and giving him an amazing new beginning.
