A Leg Up

At the young age of 3, Billy was turned into the shelter as a "stray" dog with severe bite wounds on his head, neck and front left leg.  The leg wound and bites are so bad and have been left untreated for so long that it looked like his leg might need to be amputated to prevent the current infection from going septic and taking his life.  He was in an immense amount of pain and anguish due to the neglect of his former owner.

After so much neglect from humans, Billy was finally able to see what humans really are like as we rallied behind him to help him get better.  The veterinary staff used medicate honey, regular rinsing and bandage changes to help safe Billy's leg. This along with the steady administration antibiotics and the excellent care allowed for his leg to be saved.

Billy enjoyed his first full day in his forever home by watching the Superbowl! He was adopted the Saturday before by a former adopter and joins a pack of Bulldogs, many that have been rescued from SCBR. We're over the moon and couldn't be happier for him. Happy life Billy!!!
