Brynn

With an outrageous underbite and covered in inflamed skin from a raging flea infestation, Brynn sat in her shelter kennel day after day, watching potential adopters continuously pass by without giving her a second glance. Suffering from Heartworm disease that would surely kill her without treatment, Brynn had gone unwanted for too long and was facing euthanasia.

We had pulled Brynn from the euthanasia list at our local high-kill shelter. Sadly, this shelter is so overcrowded that dogs with treatable ailments or even dogs that are perfectly healthy lose their lives almost daily to make room for new intakes. Brynn was one of those unlucky souls, deemed unwanted and unlovable for her severe underbite and inflamed skin. While we think Brynn’s unusual bite makes her all the more perfect and adorable, she was constantly overlooked by adopters.

Brought in with a flea infestation wreaking havoc on her body that continued to go untreated for the duration of her time at the shelter, Brynn’s pink and irritated skin had become visible through the fur on her back. We knew we couldn’t let Brynn’s story end in tragedy, so we made arrangements to have this sweet girl transferred into our care. However, after our first trip to the vet, we were devastated to learn that Brynn had tested positive for Heartworm disease.

Although easily preventable with the proper medication, Heartworm can be fatal if left untreated. Parasitic worms invade and clog the chambers and arteries of the heart, ultimately leading to cardiac arrest. However, because of her unusual features, the shelter had determined Brynn's life unworthy of saving. We couldn’t disagree more. Since Brynn had come into our care, we got to know the sweet and loving girl that she is. We couldn’t think of a more deserving dog to be given a second chance.

Brynn was immediately started on a course of antibiotics to treat her Heartworm disease, and her flea infestation was now finally under control. Her skin was still a bit inflamed, but we were continuing to see improvement after each medicated bath. Brynn would have never made it out of the shelter alive, all because she looks a little bit different than other dogs. Sweet Brynn did not deserve for her life to be put on the line, and we couldn't wait to help her find a loving home.

We received an outpouring of support to get Brynn the medical attention that she needed, for which we couldn't be more grateful. Your donations were the only reason we were able to provide Brynn with the essential care required to help her heal. The first night that Brynn spent with her foster family, she was so relieved to be safe that her body could no longer fight the exhaustion she must have been feeling for months…and she fell asleep in the tub! We already knew we were head over heels in love with Brynn and we could not imagine how anyone could have let her die.

After several months in our care, we are thrilled to share that Brynn has found her forever home! What makes this adoption even more special is that her new family members are dedicated CUDDLY supporters. They found Brynn through CUDDLY, and it's a match made in heaven. We are overflowing with joy for Brynn and her new family. We have so much gratitude for the incredible support she received from our CUDDLY community. Thank you for making Brynn's journey a success, and we wish her and her loving family a lifetime of happiness together!
