Back in October of 2023, Clark endured unspeakable suffering – his toes and tail were severed by a passing train and his future hung in the balance. Our dedicated team sprung into action to rescue this defenseless soul, knowing that time was of the essence. We immediately rushed Clark into surgery to remove his exposed bones and preserve what was left of his precious paws. While one paw showed promise, the other faced a grim prospect of future amputation if he couldn't bear weight on it. Fortunately, Clark fought valiantly, and amputation wasn’t necessary.

That means that this sweet boy hopped on the road to recovery right after the surgery on his toes and tail, around mid October. The stitches held up well, minus one hiccup, which prevented major infection. He relished in eating his wet food and patiently allowed us to change his bandages and administer medication. For the rest of October we worked diligently, as Clark sported some adorable little booties, to nurse him back to health so that he could enjoy playing to his heart’s content, running around with friends, and eventually feel the warm embrace of a loving forever home!

Once he was well enough to be fostered, we received fantastic news that two experienced veterinarians were happy to take him in and continue watching over this precious little boy as he graduated into the next steps of recovery. These kind individuals gave him the best possible care and ensured that he had all of the necessary treatments he still required - and they absolutely SHOWERED him in love, too! He was treated like a prince.

In the care of these expert vets and doting foster parents, Clark found the strength to walk. Tears welled up in our eyes as we watched the video of him taking his "first" steps with the biggest smile on his face. His stitches were then removed from both paws and we also took off the bandages, which gave each of his little limbs some room to breathe in the fresh air. His foster parents administered all of the necessary ointments and topical meds to make sure his paws were kept safe.

After barely no time at all, Clark was in full recovery mode and we were wondering what to do with this sweet angel - could we find him a forever home? The answer was yes - immediately! Clark landed in the loving arms of an amazing couple, who is prepared and excited to give him all the love they have. He will be cared for and respected the way he and every other animal deserves. We are overjoyed! We can’t wait for this sweet boy to embark on a whole new adventure, but are definitely happy to get to pet his darling head again soon once he reaches the appropriate age for neutering and comes back to visit!
