Shelby's Success

Shelby is a stray that chose a new home with a nice family that already had animals and children. They were willing to give her a home, but were not able to afford the medical bills that are needed for her surgery. They were not looking for another animal, but felt bad for her situation and great need. She remained a happy girl in spite of the burden she carried.

The family contacted Catoosa Citizens for Animal Care for help. We of course were willing to step in the help Shelby and contacted the vet. We were given an estimate of $350 for her massive neck growth removal surgery. Shelby's surgery was a success! She had the surgery Thursday (2/2) and she went home today (2/3). The vet did tell the new owners they had to send the mass off to the lab, but they didn't think it looked like cancer.

Her family is beyond grateful for PoundWishes fundraising for sweet stray Shelby (as we are at CCAC). They had offered to make payments on her surgery, they were in tears learning that the full bill amount was taken care of because of CUDDLY. Shelby is now part of their family and is loved very much. The family has asked that we express their gratitude to you and all that donated to help Shelby have her surgery. They have referred to all of us as angels--that just melts my heart.

They have thanked us for "giving her a new life". They said that already (just coming home today), that she is happier, more social with their dogs and playing more that she ever could with the weight of that tumor. (And this is her first day home - and on pain meds and antibiotics - no where to go but up!)

CCAC is more appreciative than we can ever express that we are able to contact you for help in our extraordinary cases. We are a small rescue. Every month our expenses exceed our income. It's part of our mission to help families in financial need, in addition to the shelter animals. We are blown away that funding is so readily donated to the ones that otherwise may not be able to have needed vet care. CUDDLY truly does have angels following your organization.
