On January 16th, we received a call from Midland Animal Shelter about this sweet lab mix who had been dumped inside an apartment complex. He was in super bad shape. He had several deep infected wounds, was starving to death at approximately 40 lbs underweight, and could not stand to walk on his own paws.
We posted a 911 to all our fosters when we got this call. Without hesitation, one of our sweet fosters dropped everything to get him and rushed him to the vet. To our surprise, his bloodwork came back great. That’s when we knew that our priority here was to treat this sweet boy for his wounds, give him lots of yummy food, and give him plenty of rest and peace to heal.
Our fosters took on Callan’s dedicated case, knowing they would spend countless hours working to improve this ailing boy’s health. They worked around the clock to return Callan to his glorious former self. Almost immediately, they got Callan’s strength up enough so that he could walk on his own, and then he achieved a PHENOMENAL weight gain in just three weeks. On the 8th of February, vets confirmed that Callan had transformed from 48 to 72 pounds, a testament to his resilient spirit and the love and care he received at his foster home.
As the days went by, the fosters began to see what an amazing dog he was despite all he had been through. He is both cat and dog-friendly and the cuddliest dog you can imagine. With Callan being SO SWEET, it didn’t take long for Lauren and Shane, our sweet fosters, to fall in love!! They decided right then and there, as Callan was slowly getting back on his feet, that they wanted to keep him forever.
We are SO PLEASED to announce that Callan has found his forever people and his home to stay, and it’s exactly where he’s been all this time. Our sweet little boy doesn’t have to raise a single paw! He can continue on relaxing in paradise with his loving family.
Callan has made a phenomenal recovery overall and continues to improve daily, thanks to his loving family and our dedicated animal community here at CUDDLY. Happy tails, Callan, we wish you the happiest new life♥️🐾
