Tutti

For four weeks, Tutti's frail body carried TWO perished puppies inside her womb. Gaping wounds, scabbed skin, and perished babies stuck inside of her womb…this was Tutti’s reality. Yes, you heard that right. This poor angel was forced to bear the weight of carrying around two dead puppies as people passed her by without a fleeting thought. She meant nothing to them, and therefore, her entire life was spent in agonizing pain.

Tutti had spent every day living on the streets, forgotten and alone. She fought day in and day out to survive, and her body took an immense beating because of it. One look at the oozing wounds and scabbed skin, and you know that she has been through hell. All it took was one person to see her and change her life by making a call to us. We, of course, jumped into action and brought her to safety, knowing this was just the beginning of a long journey to heal her both mentally and physically.

Right off the bat, we saw her obvious skin issues and the multiple ulcerated lesions all over her little body, several of which were bleeding.  We also noticed some discharge coming from her vulva, as well as the fact she had been running a high fever. With that came the high infection levels and very low hematocrit. Once at the hospital, we were able to perform an ultrasound on her distended belly, and what we found was shocking. Inside of her were TWO unborn babies, tragically both deceased…

Our hearts sank to our stomachs, realizing that she had been carrying around these babies for at least four weeks. She was able to naturally birth one, but the other urgently needed to be surgically removed. The puppies likely didn’t survive due to her high infection levels and fever. Along with removing her lifeless puppies, Tutti had fluid buildup in her abdomen that needed to be drained.

With her infection levels not wavering and the hematocrit not rising, it was imperative that she underwent a blood transfusion that would be life-saving. We waited 48 hours to repeat the tests to see if her levels had increased and the infection reduced. Only after these improvements were we able to start the medicated baths for her Demodex mange. These baths marked the beginning of relief from the mange she was battling. At this point, we were also so heartened to see that her infection was decreasing, and her hematocrit levels had slightly risen. Tutti, who has endured both emotional and physical hardships, was finally on the path to recovery.

Then- it happened. On the 22nd of February, our sweet Tutti was adopted! She has found an amazing family who adores her, giving her the life she deserves. Tutti is now enjoying sleeping on soft beds and couches, getting pampered, and being spoiled rotten! It's heartwarming to see her so comfortable and safe after all she's been through emotionally and physically.

She was once so scared of people, but now she's thriving with her forever family. Tutti still receives her medicated baths, medications, and supplements to help with her anemia, infection, and hair regrowth. Her new parents will take her to vet visits and start her vaccination process once she's finished with her antibiotics and skin medication. Thank you, CUDDLY and our generous, animal-loving community, for helping us give Tutti an incredible second chance at life!
