Knox was found limp on the side of the freeway. The finder thought he was a tire at first—that’s how lifeless his body appeared.

Upon second look, he realized it was a cat that had been hit by a car! The finder rushed him to the nearest animal hospital and tried to give him medical care.

There, a nurse scanned him, and a microchip was present. The owner was called, but the owner didn’t care that Knox was on the brink. They said he had been lost two months ago, so he might as well not even exist anymore. We were heartbroken to hear that sentiment.

Finally, Knox’s previous owners signed over the rights to this precious guy to the kind finder who was valiantly taking care of him. That’s when we were called in. The vet wanted to amputate the leg that had been most brutally wounded in the hit-and-run and another one because the muscle was literally torn off of the bone, but that would mean two amputations. We knew we could try to save him from this. So we immediately got him in with one of our amazing fosters in order to have a chance to heal on his own.

In coordination with the fosters, the vet started treating his front let with gel strips that acted like skin graphs. Knox came into the vet every other day, and they changed his bandages, reapplied strips when necessary, and monitored his progress very carefully.

With time, both his front leg AND back leg healed!!

If you were to look at Knox today, you would have no idea what this sweet boy has been through. We are SO proud of this boy for pulling through, all thanks to the continued support of our CUDDLY donors and amazing, animal-loving community.

Let’s continue helping animals in need in Knox’s honor!
