Pelata was found in August of 2023 in a common dumping ground for cats. She was about a year old and looked to have been someone’s pet at that time. But when she got sick, her owners threw her away like trash to fend for herself and die.
She was only 2lbs when she came to us, missing fur, raw skin, and so very sick. She had constant diarrhea and was anemic from all the fleas living off of her. Despite her sad physical state, she was friendly and desperate for any attention she could get from people.
We gave her every treatment we could think of to help her: antibiotics, Imodium, nausea and pain medications, B12 injections, and poop transplants. We bathed her multiple times a day and slathered her in Destin to soothe her raw buttocks and hind legs.
Our generous CUDDLY donors not only helped pay for her medical expenses but also kept her well-supplied with the specialty food she needed to help repair her sensitive digestive tract.
Over the next two months, with the dedication of our medical team and volunteers, we watched this sick, starved, young cat with very little fur transform into a gorgeous, thriving girl with a thick black coat. Throughout it all, Pelata maintained a friendly demeanor and became a favorite feline among The Cats at Longstreet volunteers.
Pelata was adopted just four and a half months after she came to us. She is thriving in her new home and is a normal girl. The only remnant of her ordeal is a regular supplement of vitamin B.
Pelata would have suffered a terrible fate without the generosity of our CUDDLY donors. We are truly grateful for your support and dedication to Pelata. Here’s to our sweet girl now living her best life.
