Taylor

Taylor’s life took a tragic turn when her tail was cruelly amputated, whether by a heartless act or a tragic accident. The amputation, cutting through bone, muscle, tendons, and seven pairs of highly sensitive nerves, left Taylor wild with pain and panic. The sheer agony she endured was compounded by a broken tooth during her struggle.

When we found sweet Taylor, our hearts shattered. Carefully, we scooped up her broken body, cradling her close to us. She was in such extreme agony that we knew we needed to urgently help her, but there wasn’t much time; we had to move fast.

Urgently, we transported her to our kennel-free rescue where she began her path to recovery. With a soft bed to rest on, nutritious food, and the comforting presence of her bonded companion, Bella, who was rescued alongside her, Taylor found solace in the company of other refuge dogs. Socializing with these playful and relaxed companions helped her rebuild trust and rediscover the joys of a normal dog's life. For a while, she still flinched when petted, a testament to the harsh cruelty she must have endured. But we grew determined to show her that not all humans are mean and that she is now safe in our care.

Despite the growth in her personality, sweet Taylor still had a way to go for full healing. Her ragged wound posed a risk of chronic pain and distress due to nerve damage or the formation of a neuroma (benign nerve tumor) that could affect her for the rest of her life. Our veterinarian team worked tirelessly to properly treat her and ensure she was free from as much pain as possible. Thanks to the generous support and donations we received from individuals at Cuddly, we were able to generate enough funds to provide her utmost care!

Fast-forward to today and Taylor is happily adjusting to life without a tail. She doesn't even have so much as a stump to wiggle to showcase her happiness, but she adores living among humans and housemates who love her for what she is. And that, to us, is enough; seeing her enjoy her precious life. She is still shy and mainly prefers the company of her rescue mate, Bella. However, she allows us to pet her without scurrying away, which is a major behavioral change from when we first found her.

Your support has helped Taylor get through one of the toughest times. We thank YOU for getting her on the road to recovery. Now that her body has healed, her heart is following. Soon, she will be calm and trusting enough to be adopted and find her loving, forever home. We could not do this without your gracious donations. Thank you for your love, kindness, and compassion in getting Taylor back on her feet!
