Once teetering on the edge of death after a brutal mauling by her mother, Mira's story is a powerful testament to the resilience of survival and the transformative power of love. Her journey, however, began in utter heartbreak. Mira and her sisters were tragically mauled by their mother shortly after birth, possibly due to stress or hormonal changes. This devastating act left the tiny puppies with severe injuries, thrusting them into a battle for their lives from their very first moments.

Barely 24 hours old, Mira and her sisters underwent their first surgery. Despite the best efforts of their caretakers, Mira’s sisters, Chrissa and Tessa, succumbed to their injuries, leaving Mira to fight for survival alone. Just days after her initial surgery, Mira's face began to swell—a clear sign of a severe infection. Her dedicated medical foster sprang into action, meticulously cleaning her wounds and administering antibiotics. With Mira’s immune system compromised due to the lack of colostrum, her foster provided serum from her own vaccinated dog to offer the vital antibodies Mira desperately needed.

At just one week old, Mira faced her second surgery to remove damaged skin. Once again, serum was administered to help her combat potential infections. Despite her incredibly challenging start in life, Mira began showing remarkable signs of improvement. She started taking a bottle, slowly gaining weight, and healing day by day.

In barely any time at all by the end of January,, Mira had transformed into a playful puppy. Weighing in at four pounds, her wounds were healing, and although her ears had scarred down to little nubs, she retained her hearing. Both her eyes opened, much to everyone's delight. Mira even discovered her "big girl" growl and took her first steps, bringing hope and joy to everyone around her.

 Fast forward to February 19th, and Mira was well on her way to living a normal life. She was progressing well with potty training and no longer required additional surgeries for her injuries. Her foster mom proudly reported that Mira was thriving and nearly ready for adoption.

By May 13th, Mira had blossomed completely. She was nearly unrecognizable from the ailing pup she was. Now, this girl was all smiles, a happy puppy. Although a small fracture required hydrotherapy, her earlier injuries had not impacted her quality of life. Full of energy and joy, Mira was ready for her forever family. We knew the time would come! So we set out to find her the perfect person who would take care of her every need and love her unconditionally. It didn’t take long for us, though. As it turns out, the answer was right in front of us all along. Mira found her forever home with her devoted medical foster, ensuring that her days of suffering were behind her and she could stay put right where she had been all along.

Now this sweet girl gets to resume her life as a normal, joyful puppy, and it is all thanks to you.
