Gudan

Once abandoned on the side of the road, covered in gruesome, maggot-filled wounds and painful injuries, this husky mix was found lying in the mud all alone. He was so weak that he was unable to move. His life was hanging by a thread, and we weren’t sure if he was even going to make it. Yet, following a miraculous transformation, this sweet boy not only healed but has found his forever home!

On January 23rd, Gudan was discovered in a desolate, rural area, perilously weak and infested with maggots. Though it was unclear whether he had been run over or callously abandoned, his condition was deeply distressing, leaving him unable to move and suffering in silence. Because he was so terribly weak, he was forced to relieve himself where he lay as rain pelted on his fragile frame. It was a heartbreaking, unimaginable sight that still leaves us in complete shock.

Upon his rescue, Gudan was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic, where a series of tests revealed a high fever, anemia, infection, and decreased albumin. With symptoms including uncontrolled leg movements, medical experts worked tirelessly to stabilize him. They meticulously cleaned his maggot-infested wounds and managed to regulate his temperature while a urinary catheter was administered due to his incontinence.

Further medical assessment revealed that Gudan had degenerative disc disease that affected his spine, prompting an integrated treatment plan, including acupuncture and laser therapy. With each session, Gudan exhibited astonishing resilience, slowly regaining the ability to stand with assistance. His diet was carefully managed to counteract his malnutrition, and his wounds had been thoroughly cleaned and were beginning to heal quite nicely.

Once Gudan had made incredible headway in his recovery journey, he was placed in a specialized foster home for disabled animals. While there, he received ongoing physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and pain management. Orthopedists prescribed boots to enhance his mobility, marking another milestone in his recovery. Each session and supportive measure yielded positive outcomes, and we were so happy at the prospect of this handsome boy making a full recovery and completely turning his life around.

After many months, Gudan’s transformation was remarkable. From being unable to stand, Gudan was now walking, climbing, and exploring the world around him. He was also ADOPTED this past September and is now surrounded by endless love and care. He was taken in by his forever family with the promise that they would continue his physical therapy and ensure he had a safe space to call home. His recovery journey has inspired us all, and we are just so proud of him for being so brave and resilient through all of this!
