Batal

This poor boy faced unthinkable cruelty while living on the streets. Last year, he was shot point-blank in the face, losing his sight as searing pain coursed through him. Yet, rescued and given a second chance, Batal’s journey to healing and happiness will truly touch your heart. 

Batal, a once adventurous and friendly stray cat, roamed the village freely, embracing life's simple joys. However, his life took a tragic turn when a heartless individual shot him in the face for literally no reason. This unprovoked attack left Batal in immense agony and shrouded in complete darkness. For two harrowing days, he sat motionless and terrified as the rain pattered on his bloodied coat. It wasn’t until a compassionate man found him and hastily alerted Rescuing In Lebanon that Batal was brought to our awareness. 

Desperate to save this kitty, our team traveled two hours to bring Batal to safety. Over the next two months, he underwent extensive reconstructive surgeries to mend the physical damage inflicted by the bullet. Throughout this trying time, Batal was placed in a loving foster family, where he steadily healed and grew stronger! He was so strong and resilient through it all, purring and even making biscuits. 

A few weeks later, we took Batal to the vet, troubled by the look of his stomach. But we were ecstatic to learn that he had only gained healthy weight! Sadly, though, the challenges of the bullet still lurked—it had irreparably damaged and infected his teeth and gums, necessitating even more surgeries. Most of his teeth had been knocked out when he was shot, but we were devastated to learn that even more teeth needed to be removed.

Still, we persisted onward, working hard to fully heal Batal. In time, that glorious day came, and he began his voyage to France, where he would begin his search for a loving home. Before long, compassionate adopters in Canada graciously took this kitty into their loving home, ready to cherish him forever. He was renamed Roy, in honor of Roy Hassoun, the dedicated veterinarian who performed his life-saving surgeries. From then on, it marked the start of his new, beautiful life.
