Marky

Initially, Marky was ravaged by illness and, in turn, was on the brink of euthanasia. He was suffering from kennel cough and Demodex mange, two conditions that the shelter decided were just too much. Miraculously, he was rescued in the nick of time and is now fully healed and thriving! Discover how Marky's life changed forever by reading below.

Marky was just a year old, and yet he had already been through so much. His little body was covered in bloody scabs, and his immune system was crumbling. His illnesses left him frail and barely able to eat. The shelter didn’t even give him the opportunity to start treatment before they listed him for euthanasia, his time fading fast.

When we found out about sweet Marky, we knew we had to intervene. We rushed to the shelter, where the sight of him in his kennel shattered our hearts. His head dipped, his eyes filled with pain. He was depressed and lonely, with hardly any fight left in him. There was absolutely no way that we were going to stand back and let him perish. We had to at least give him a fighting chance. He deserved that much.

Once in our care, we started Marky on treatment right away. Gradually, the medicines took effect. His once-ragged coat started to show signs of healing, and the immune system began to strengthen. Marky started to experience pain-free days, and with them, his playful spirit emerged. His protective barrier was melting, and he was emerging as the joyful, happy pup he had always been deep inside.

By Christmas, Marky was hardly recognizable—his health had improved so well! His kennel cough had cleared, freeing him from the pain that came with the immense inflammation of his lungs. Once well enough, he was safely neutered. As he continued to heal, he found joy in the company of his foster sister, Bella, and the two of them played happily together. Carefully, as he learned how to trust his surroundings, his personality began to bloom.

In time, Marky's journey took its happiest leap when a loving family adopted him! The moment they met with Marky, they immediately knew he was the one. They melted at the sight of his kind, wide eyes and joyful energy. Marky was taken in and showered with love and warmth. At long last, he has the happily ever after that he has never known yet always deserved. Finally, he knows what it feels like to be cherished.
