Reebok

This precious boy was found on the streets, yowling in pain as he crawled in a helpless search for safety and healing. Initially, we worried he might not make it. But through patience, gentle care, and the incredible support from this CUDDLY community, not only are his wounds healed, but he has been lovingly adopted by the most perfect family.

At 12 years old, Reebok was abandoned. He was left to fend for himself as the winter weather plummeted to freezing temperatures. His fragile body shuddered as he curled up on a shadowed street corner. People strolled by, not paying him any mind. This poor kitty was starving, alone, but what was most concerning was the jagged gash that stretched along the underside of his jaw. We had no idea how this wound even happened—was it an animal attack or an act of malicious abuse? Either way, it was susceptible to infections and, evidently so, causing Reebok immense pain.

The moment we stumbled upon this poor boy, our hearts ached. Gingerly, we scooped him up and cradled him close to us. He melted into us for warmth, clearly having been a beloved pet once. But with him being so fragile, the massive wound so gruesome, it was difficult to imagine him curled up at home. It was hard to fathom the idea that someone dumped such a sweet kitty. Reebok made gentle biscuits in our chest as we rushed him to the vet, desperate to get him the help he needed.

The medical team, horrified by what they saw, sprang to action. His neck wound was carefully cleaned and bandaged, while his underweight body was nourished with comforting meals, like senior bisque. His vet tape was carefully redressed as staff gave him much-needed fluids and pain medications. We were gentle with him, slowly introducing him to the comfort and warmth he deserved. With every meal, every touch of kindness, and every moment of reassurance, Reebok began to trust again. He leaned into the gentle hands that cared for him, soaking up the love he had once lost.

As the weeks passed, Reebok’s spirit reignited. His appetite returned, helping him regain his strength. His wound was healing quickly, and his eyes were no longer clouded with pain and distress. Gifts from CUDDLY donors began pouring in, and he relished his treats, yummy food, toys, and blankets. We could hardly believe that this joyful, snuggly kitty was the same one we had found clinging to life on the streets just a handful of days before. Right before our eyes, the day came when he was ready to find a home to keep him safe and cherish him for the rest of his days. 

Then, a new chapter unfolded. As we write this, we are crying tears of joy! We just can’t believe this has happened; so much good is raining down on Reebok’s life. He struggled for so long, but luck and good fortune finally found him. Adoption applications began trickling in, and we reviewed each one with a close eye. But one message particularly stuck out to us—we knew immediately that we had found Reebok’s forever family.

A loving family in Wisconsin saw Reebok’s CUDDLY campaign and immediately felt a connection with this sweet kitty, even from behind the screen. They fell in love with his kind eyes, pulled by his story, and knew in their hearts that he belonged with them. After speaking with us, they flew down to our rescue in Oklahoma to bring him home. In their arms, he found the comfort, security, and love he had been deprived of for so long.
