After experiencing the worst kind of cruelty this world has to offer, Wynn was left to pick up the pieces of his life all by his lonesome on the streets of Hermosillo, Mexico. It wasn’t until we met him that his fate shifted. With patience, gentleness, and the incredible support of this CUDDLY community, our sweet boy now has a future he probably never saw coming. Wynn’s wounds are healed, and he has been lovingly adopted by the most perfect family imaginable, who just welcomed him off his freedom flight and into their home. But before we celebrate, we’re going to take you back to the beginning so you can understand the magnitude of Wynn’s victory.
A year ago, acid was poured down our innocent boy’s throat, searing through his fur, flesh, and tissue and leaving his snout mutilated beyond recognition. The pain he felt then and thereafter must have been unbearable. Immediately after the attack, as if things couldn’t get any worse, Wynn was forced to spend his days and nights completely alone on the streets. Without care, medical support, or HOPE, he wandered, feeling rejected and suffering. He grew thin and weak as he struggled to eat with what little remained of his mouth. No one stopped to help him. No one showed him mercy. He ended up a ghost of the dog he once was.
When we first saw Wynn’s story circulating online, we knew we had to act. Time was slipping away, and every second he remained on the streets was another second we couldn’t get back for him. After days of coordinating the logistics, we made the three-hour journey to rescue him, our hearts heavy with uncertainty. Would we be too late?
The sight that greeted us was gut-wrenching. Wynn’s body was thin and frail, his eyes filled with pain and exhaustion. His snout—what remained of it—was raw and permanently disfigured, but despite it, there was something in him that still sparked. The moment we lifted him into our arms, he melted into us, surrendering not out of fear but trust. For the first time in so long, he was safe. And he knew it.
Of course, Wynn’s recovery was never going to be easy, but we were ready to fight for him. The first step was getting him to a veterinarian, where we expected a long road of wound care, nutrition, and pain management. But just when we thought we understood the challenge ahead, we were blindsided by another devastating blow: Wynn had cancer.
We were shattered. How could life be this cruel to one soul? It wasn’t enough that he had suffered an unimaginable attack—now, he had to fight for his life in an entirely different way. The majority of Wynn’s year-long battle wasn’t just about healing his wounds—it was about defeating the cancer that had quietly taken hold of his body while he was struggling to survive.
Treatment began immediately. Wynn underwent surgery to remove two small growths unrelated to the cancer and then rested as he prepared to undergo his first rounds of Chemotherapy. There were days when he felt exhausted when his body seemed to betray him, when we worried if he had the strength to keep going. But every time we looked into his eyes, we saw it: Wynn was not giving up. He had survived too much to let cancer take him now.
Through it all, Wynn received the best care possible, thanks to YOU. Your donations provided the treatments that saved his life. Your kindness ensured that he had soft meals that wouldn’t hurt his fragile mouth, medications to ease his pain, and endless love from those determined to show him that humans could be kind. You gave him a chance to fight, and fight he did.
As the months passed, Wynn defied every odd stacked against him. His wounds healed, his cancer treatments worked, and his spirit—oh, his spirit—shone brighter than ever. His eyes brightened, his tail wagged, and he began to seek out more and more affection—not with hesitation, but with confidence. He was learning to trust again. He was learning what it meant to be loved.
Once the weeks began turning into months, right before our eyes, we knew the day would come when he’d be ready for the next steps, whatever they may be for a pup like Wynn. We were not at all prepared for what was in store. But alas, this precious soul’s new chapter was about to unfold.
As we write this, literal tears are welling up in our eyes. Do you have some tissues ready?
Wynn found his forever home!!!!!! We just can’t believe this has happened; so much good is raining down on Wynn’s life right now. A family saw his story, and despite everything he had been through, they didn’t see a broken dog. They saw a survivor. They saw a heart full of love waiting to be given. And they knew, without a doubt, that he belonged with them. So today, Wynn is safe, adored, and cherished beyond measure. He will never again know hunger, fear, or pain. His days are filled with warmth, his belly is full, and his heart finally knows peace.
To everyone who donated, shared his story, or sent gifts—this is your victory, too. YOU made this possible! Without your support, animals like Wynn wouldn’t have the opportunity to heal and (gasp!) find a loving home! You gave Wynn this second chance. Be proud. You proved that love is stronger than cruelty and that kindness can rewrite even the darkest stories. Because of you, Wynn is no longer a forgotten soul on the streets—he is home.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. And a huge thanks to the medical teams who valiantly supported Wynn throughout, gave GREAT advice, and kept the course. Wynn’s story could have ended in tragedy, but because of this CUDDLY community, it is a triumph. We saved a life. And in his eyes, we know—he is forever grateful. ❤️
