Anna's journey from severe neglect to a lifetime of health and happiness is nothing short of miraculous. Found clinging to life covered in painful lesions, Anna has completely transformed. Her story will surely inspire you; read on to learn all about it!

Anna, a gentle Cane Corso, was taken to our rescue in early December 2024 from Miami Dade Animal Services. Her life before this was far from easy, marred by extreme neglect. And then, instead of receiving help, she was dumped at a shelter. Her condition was critical—she was malnourished, dehydrated, with pale, dry gums. The skin along her thorax and hips was covered in agonizing wounds; the level of mistreatment she endured is truly unfathomable. 

Additionally, deep pyoderma ravaged her skin, alopecia had stripped her coat, and untreated cherry eye clouded her vision. Her face was long, almost hardened into a frown, and she was losing hope. This poor pup had been through the wringer, and when we first brought her in, she was far from being out of the woods. It would take everything we had to get her well, but we were ready to give it our all.

Anna was rushed to our trusted vet for intensive medical care. She remained hospitalized for three days, monitored around the clock as the medical team applied soothing creams to her inflamed skin and administered IV fluids and pain relief to provide comfort. Her lesions were tended to, and her infections were addressed. Despite the uphill battle, Anna remained such a sweet and gentle girl. 

Gradually, the swelling in Anna’s legs reduced, and her irritated skin began to mend, as did her wounds. Through specialized treatments, we focused on helping her gain weight and build strength. Her eyes, once filled with exhaustion, began to glimmer with life. Albeit slow, the progress was notably there.

The beautiful day finally came when Anna was released from the hospital and transferred back to the full oversight of our rescue. Over the next couple of months, Anna’s healing was more than a gradual improvement; it was moving at full force. Her once malnourished frame began to fill out, and her skin, once covered in lesions and plagued by alopecia, is now entirely healed, bearing a healthier coat. Right before our eyes, this beautiful girl was coming back to life.

As we are writing to you today, we are having trouble shaking the smile from our faces. First, Anna is hardly recognizable as the sad, sickly girl we once took in. Second, we are thrilled to share that Anna found the happiest of endings; she was lovingly adopted into an adoring family who is ready to provide her with the life she truly deserves. We are just so happy for her and cannot wait to see all of the joys and wonders that she gets to experience!
