Gingerbread
We are beyond elated to share that Gingerbread has both healed from her horrific case of mange and was lovingly adopted! When found, she was in considerable pain and was left blind due to a severe case of entropion. Today, she’s a lively, carefree girl, finally experiencing the love and joy she truly deserves.
Gingerbread was discovered wandering the streets, completely alone. The poor girl was covered head-to-toe in agonizing Demodex mange that claimed most of her coat. Her entropion (a condition in which the eyelids curl painfully inwards and scratch the eye) was so severe that her eyes were sealed shut. The poor girl was also packed with parasites—hookworms, roundworms, whipworms, and tapeworms. She was rushed to our doors, and we began crucial emergency treatment immediately.
Thanks to ongoing medicated baths, necessary medications, and routinely applied topical ointments, we began to notice a glimmer of progress. Gingerbread was healing, day by day. Surgery for her entropion was scheduled; the day that she could see again marked a joyous milestone! The battle wasn’t easy, but Gingerbread pushed through at a remarkable speed. She has a fighting spirit within her, and it was inspiring to witness.
Weeks later, Gingerbread felt SO much better. Her red, inflamed skin was healing, and a healthy coat was growing back! She slowly learned to trust us, coming out of her shell more each day. Before we knew it, she was ready for her next chapter—adoption! She was transported to New England, where she continued to heal while waiting patiently for her new family.
It didn’t take long for someone to come along and fall in love with Gingerbread. Our sweet girl was lovingly adopted by the most amazing owner. As we write this, she’s probably cozy at home, soaking up all of the love. We are so incredibly happy for her. None of this could have been possible without your support.
YOUR generosity made this transformation possible. You gave Gingerbread a second chance at a whole new life. Thank you so much for your kindness. We hope you know that your donations truly make a difference.
