The calm after the Storm

For most of his life, Stormy was kept in a garage without sunlight, without kind attention from humans, or much interaction at all. He was forced to mate, fight, and was constantly tortured so that his body was more appealing to other fighting dogs. He was used as bait and was never given a chance to rest, or heal completely.

When Almost Home-No Kill Shelter saved Stormy from his abuser, it was evident that Stormy was just hanging on by a thread. He had been stabbed multiple times all over his body, so that he would bleed. The abuser did this to him hoping that it would make the other fight dogs go after him even harder. When Stormy was too weak to stand, he was hung by a rope from the ceiling so that he was unable to sit or lay down. Stormy almost died that day, and somehow, a miracle happened. He was rescued and his abuser lost custody of all of his dogs, many of which were Stormy's family.

Stormy stayed in an Emergency Vet Hospital for a very long time, where he received IV fluids, antibiotics, and a lot of love and attention. Somehow through all of what he has been through, Stormy showed an angelic side of him that everyone was surprised and amazed to see. How could a dog that had been beaten, abused and tortured be so kind and so gentle toward humans and other dogs? Stormy has a Serenity about him that is like magic. People are not afraid of him, dogs do not fear him and all he wants is to be close to anyone who will love him or show him attention.

The volunteers at Almost Home-No Kill Shelter has been working hard to make sure that Stormy is given a lot of love. He has had a lot of visitors, he has gone for car rides, and visited pet stores where he was allowed to meet different dogs and interact with a lot of people. Everyone who meets him, falls in love with him. Stormy has received plenty of calls, letters and emails from people wanting to adopt him and for that he has been very thankful.. Today, Stormy's dream came true. He was adopted by a wonderful woman who will love him and spoil him for the rest of his life. He will always have a warm bed, healthy food and loving hands to pet him. Thankfully, there is now a calm after the Storm.
