Posie

Sweet baby Posie was, unfortunately, the product of inbreeding and she is quite the congenital anomaly. Her back legs and private areas were visibly deformed and had resulted in her inability to go to the bathroom and use her back legs. She had good control of her rectum, but it was her colon that was lacking the correct response.

Baby Posie desperately needed a complete colon resection which would give her the ability to go potty on her own! However, this surgery is invasive and intricate and Posie was still very small. She needed to be 4-5lbs before this surgery was an option for her. Because she was only 2lbs, this meant her condition needed to be maintained, which has already proven to be a lot of work and costly.

Unfortunately, Posie was unexpectantly urgently rushed to the hospital after her rectum completely prolapsed. Posie went in for surgery on April 18th for her rectum resection. She was supposed to have this surgery when she was 5 pounds and although she was still small, it was imperative for her overall health. This was a very big surgery for such a tiny kitten, but she handled it all amazingly! However, due to her size, her temperature dropped too low for comfort during surgery and she had to be pulled out before her tail amputation could be completed. Finally, to get Posie on the last step to living pain-free and on track to a beautiful new life, she underwent her tail amputation surgery on Tuesday, May 4th. Posie's surgery was a success and, while she still had a bit of a road ahead of her, she was right on track!

Fast forward to today because Posie has something incredible to share! She has made it a full week and a half since needing an enema! This is the longest she had ever gone because before this was four days! Can you believe it?! This girl is going on month four of treatment, surgeries, and constant vet visits. She is not yet in the clear, but it's looking like the journey may be nearing an end for miss Posie! Keep up the wonderful work, special girl, as there is no kitty quite as strong and resilient as her!

Because of Posie's generous CUDDLY supporters, she has received so many of her wishlist donations! Thank you to everyone who was so generous enough to donate to her care! She is doing so much better and will be able to live such a happy life. Your kindness has left a true mark on her and we cannot thank you enough for that!
