Bindi

Sweet Bindi came into our care a few months ago after being tragically run over by a train in Kolkata, India. The hit was so severe..so brutal that she had her legs severed off in the process. To make matters worse, she was left for about 4 days with no help afterward - just bleeding out there on the ground in pain.

By the time we found her, she had lost 2.5 legs and ample amounts of blood. Can you even imagine? But Bindi was strong and after months and months of treatment, we were able to stabilize her, help her adjust to life as a double amputee, and even get her placed in a foster home that taught her what real love and care meant. We'd like to mention that we partnered with CUDDLY throughout the entire journey and thanks to their support, we were able to raise thousands of dollars for her wound care, surgeries, and transportation. None of it would have been possible without that.

But back to Bindi - while in foster care, Bindi thrived. She became a dog again and just recently, the best thing in the world happened. The fosters who had been taking care of her for over a year had become so attached to her that they wanted to officially adopt her - and we immediatley said YES.

As you know, we try to get as many dogs out of India and into families either here in the US or Canada because the chances of special needs dogs being adopted in India are low. Because of the lockdown that was happening at the time, it had been really difficult trying to transport dogs so they have unfortunately had to stay in foster homes longer, but clearly, in this case, it was for the best. Not only did Bindi not need to go through the stress of a long flight or try to adjust to new surroundings but the family she's been growing with and learning to love will now be hers forever.

What's more is that Bindi also has some fur siblings that she lives with who are also Stray Dog Support dogs! This is very emotional for us, as Bindi was one of our first dogs that we rescued with such horrific injuries and we really did not think she would even survive. But her story just goes to show you how resilient and strong these street dogs are and the difference that the support of people (and CUDDLY) make.

We are so grateful to her fosters or should we say family, for opening their hearts and home to this beautiful girl. And we are so grateful to the donors, the supporters, and to the family we've found here at CUDDLY for their help.

 Happy life Bindi!!
