Fernando

Fernando was one of the worst cases of neglect that SCAR had seen in some time. Not only did Fernando have sarcoptic mange, but his skin was also thick and crusted over with an underlining skin infection. He was completely overloaded with parasites including being very heavy heartworm positive. His ears were thick and scarred from a possible old hematoma and his left eye was completely gone likely due to some sort of trauma early on in his life. To make matters even worse, Fernando had also been shot multiple times. His X-Rays showed dozens of bullet fragments throughout his body. One fragment appeared to be logged at L3 vertebrae causing severe arthritis. He also had old fractures in his pelvic area from being hit by vehicles, most likely more than once.

However, that all changed the minute Fernando came into SCAR's care. He was urgently rushed to the emergency vet where he received life-saving care to nurse this sweet boy back to health. Even though doctors and rescuers were so blown away by his amazing progress over the last several months, they did not believe that his fur would ever fully grow back. But, oh, were they wrong!?

Because of all Fernando's CUDDLY supporters, almost $1,600 was raised to go directly toward his treatment AND rescuers were in awe with the number of items he was gifted from his wishlist. Not only did CUDDLY bring in lots of donations and goodies, but it also helped him find his forever home. You see, his campaign got a lot of attention. So, when the Frey family saw his campaign, they reached out to rescuers about wanting to adopt! Thanks to the help of so many amazing people at SCAR and the wonderful team at CUDDLY,  Fernando gets his happily ever after. Fernando was transported from Mississippi to Colorado by an amazing couple who run 'Dog Gone Transporters'. They couldn't be happier to help! Fernando left for his transport last Friday, with all of his CUDDLY gear too, and arrived at his new home on Sunday.
