Artie

One of the saddest things we hear about is senior pups being abandoned after SO many years of giving all the love to their families...just to be dumped in return.

Artie was found roaming the local neighborhood when a lady came across him. She searched for his family and no one showed up to claim him. He was scanned for a microchip and none was found. The lady kept him safe while searching by making him a spot in her garage. He was very friendly, good with people, kids and great with other dogs?he felt very domesticated. She reached out to many rescues in the area to help - when Sauver Des Cheins found out that she would foster Artie if they would take him in, it was a no-brainer.

He was set to go to the Veterinarian and to know more about his condition and his age. He appeared to be older with ear infections from the way he shook his head and the smell. He was very emaciated and one could feel every rib bone on him! At the clinic, he was given his core vaccines, was microchipped, had a fecal, was heartworm tested, and had a couple of Xrays done. Sadly, he tested positive for heartworms as well and was set up on antibiotics to help clear him of the infestation. It took weeks of injections and treatment and although it was so hard on him, we are so happy to announce that Artie made it through.

He was an absolute champ. And although the expenses to care for this boy were high, CUDDLY donors came through and were able to help raise hundreds of dollars to cover his care. What's more though is that after being medically cleared, Artie was able to find the family that he would call forever. He was able to find a home and humans who will love him and care for him in every way that he deserves. Artie's story is one that we will forever cherish and hold close to our hearts. We are so happy for him and so thankful to everyone out there who made his recovery and happy ending possible.
