When 9-year-old Max was first found laying on the side of the road, his skeletal body practically melting into the asphalt, he was in serious trouble - more trouble than rescuers ever anticipated.

He was rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered that he had multiple puncture wounds on his body, his claw had been ripped out, pieces of cactus were embedded in his skin, and he even had holes on the bottom of one of his paws. Some of these injuries were old, some were new - but most all of them were infected and causing him a great deal of pain. He was also incredibly underweight and malnourished and once he was discharged from the hospital, rescuers learned that he was easily stressed or confused when left alone. So much so that they slept on the floor with him so that he'd stop waking up panicked and scared.

Over the course of weeks, he was in and out of the ER for treatment. His puncture wounds were continuously cleaned and eventually stitched up and he later went into surgery after doctors found that his jaw was infected and had a large horizontal crack through it. It's was almost never-ending, his issues. And somewhere along the way, rescuers discovered that Max did, indeed, have an owner once. And they sadly discovered that his owner was battling stage 4 cancer and with all the medication she was taking, she couldn't take care or keep track of Max. As a result, he would sometimes go an extended period of time without eating and would even escape. She had no family to help, so she selflessly surrendered him to rescuers when they found her, wanting him to receive the medical and physical attention he needed. All his puncture wounds were cleaned out and stitched up. Rescuers also found him to have a large horizontal crack in his jaw and infections in his mouth but were able to treat BOTH these accordingly to allow him to live a pain-free life. They were also able to get him neutered.

At the end of it all, we have the best, most perfect news! Sweet Max, who went through so much suffering a few months ago, has made the greatest recovery thanks to CUDDLY donors raising over $2000 for his treatments. But that's not all. Max is not only healthy and thriving, but Max has also found his forever home too and is living his best possible life. Big thank you to every one part of the CUDDLY family who donated and was able to make this journey possible! We are so excited for Max and so grateful to you all!
