Kat came into the shelter while not being able to use her back legs fully and was covered from head to toe in ticks. She was only about 5-6 months old, weighed only 4 1/2 lbs, but she proved to be the sweetest little girl when she came to rescuers at Tails To The Wind.
After an evaluation at the vet, it was determined that Kat didn't have any broken bones. However, she had no reflex or response when the nerves were checked in her back legs. They originally believed she was suffering from a tick-borne disease, but it was soon discovered that she actually had fear paralysis. She was so incredibly scared of life itself, especially humans, that she was paralyzed in fear. Every time anyone would come near her, she would freeze and shake uncontrollably.
Kat had a long journey, but every single day she made improvements and slowly began to trust humans! With lots of patience, care, and love, Kat made a full 360! She received so many healing items from her wishlist as well which most certainly aided in her transformation. And we have even more exciting news because Kat has also found her forever home!
Rescuers knew it would take a very special person with a very big heart to adopt Kat and they were willing to wait as long as needed. When Kat’s new mom met her, she knew it was meant to be and so did rescuers. Kat went to visit her new family a few times before making it official. Each time she went to their house she was very brave and explored a little. She loves her new husky sister Maya and follows her around everywhere, while her brother Jack is still adjusting to his new sister. Today, Kat walked up to her new mom for pets and that’s when they knew she was ready. We are so happy for Kat and her new family, and we are so grateful for everyone who has donated toward Kat’s journey! Here’s to Kat’s new, happy life!!
