Robin Hood

Robin Hood was REWILDED! This Gray Fox, Robin Hood, arrived at the Toucan Rescue Ranch after being found alone in San Jose, Costa Rica by somebody who was out jogging. 

Upon arriving, our dedicated Vet Team found that he was healthy, but still young enough to need proper care. He was given a special diet to help him grow and placed in a pre-release enclosure to ensure he developed natural foraging and hunting skills. We also avoided as much human contact as possible to ensure he remained cautious of humans. 

Once he perfected his skills in the pre-release, we knew it was time for him to be rewilded and get #backinthetrees! He was driven, with the company of wildlife police (MINAE) to the National Park of Irazu Volcano. His release was speedy, but we know he has a long and healthy journey back in the wild!
