Juana the raccoon was our first rescue of 2021 and, sadly, her story is one of animal abuse.
She was found in a shed with burn marks that could have only been manmade. Due to the severity and placement, we believe they were a result of hot oil burns.
Upon arrival, our Vet Team treated her with anesthesia and painkillers, as well as routinely removing the dead skin from her wounds. After that, we used regenerative skin treatment using tilapia skin - a treatment method that proved to be very successful.
She had this treatment three times, which couldn’t have happened without your generous donations! After three months of treatment, Juana was finally ready to be rewilded!
Thank you to all who supported her rehabilitation, and especially to the Walker Family for their generous donation. We couldn’t have done it without your support!
Good luck, Mrs. Juana!
