Nala

Nala was butchered, abused, attacked by other dogs, and left to rot in a tiny cage in the brutal cold and heat. This small girl has been forced to endure three years of torture because to her abuser, profit was more important than her life. 

At only 3 years of age, Nala had only ever experienced brutal abuse at the hands of not only humans but dogs alike. Forced to give birth over and over by an unprofessional breeder who performed multiple at-home c-sections with a sharp tool. This gentle soul was cut up while being awake with absolutely no sedation, no anesthesia – nothing to manage the pain. Over and over again just to have her babies ripped from her helpless torn apart body. To add injury to insult, another mother dog experiencing the same level of abuse attacked her while in heat, leaving Nala with yet another open and bleeding wound, but this time on her eye. Instead of helping her, the breeder locked her away in a small cage and left her to die, with no medical care, no love, and not even food or water. 

It was not until rescuers from Austin Bull Dog Rescue came to the aid of this sweet girl that she had ever known what it meant to be loved and cared for. Somehow, she was so loving toward humans and other dogs, even after all the terrible pain she has endured from both parties. They quickly got this girl to the vet, where she was given extensive medical care to treat her many open ailments as well as her infected bleeding ears. She was far too frail to receive her much-needed eye surgery and spay, so she was sent back to her fabulous foster, who had fallen in love with her from the moment they met. As she got more and more healthy, she also became more and more confident, as her playmate at her foster home was teaching her so many dog antidotes she never had the chance to learn. Learning to play ball and lay in the lap of her foster, she only continued to become more and more perfect as time went on, due to the love and support she was shown. Soon, she was strong enough to endure surgery! She had both eye surgery and a spay, as to never endure being forced into motherhood ever again. 

This is the best part, the fosters from Austin Bull Dog Rescue who took her in, never in their lives thought they would get another dog, but with how incredible and loving Nala is, they truly fell in love. On top of that, their dog Molly had come from the same rescue, with a similar back story and pair became immediately bonded. It was a once-in-a-lifetime thing that's almost hard to put to words-- love. The foster parents, Earl and Michelle, never saw their household adopting a second dog, but both Nala and them share something too special to let go, and we couldn't be happier for them! Nala will never know a life of pain ever again, instead, she lays in her owner's lap, plays with her sister, and even hangs out with her parent's grandchildren. What an amazing love story indeed!!

This transformation is truly a special one, as not many dogs get to have the same fate, which almost felt written in the stars in this case.
