Groot

Meet Groot – this precious little Tamandua who arrived at Toucan Rescue Ranch just a few short weeks ago.

He was born into the world much like many other babies Tamanduas: Healthy, spunky, hungry, and happy. But it was just a short time later that poor Groot found himself in horrible pain, after being attacked by a dog around Guapiles, near the Caribbean slope of Costa Rica. Thankfully, the attack was interrupted by neighbors, who ultimately saved Groot's life.

We were scared for Groot. How would he recover from such a horrible ordeal? Would he ever feel comfortable around animals ever again? The surgeries required to get him back on his feet were very invasive and it felt like this was all too much for him to handle, but boy were we wrong!

Groot began recovering quickly! Every time we brought him to the vet, he was passing with flying colors. We officially got the news that he would be able to be released only a few weeks after his surgery date- we were absolutely thrilled.

He has since been cleared for release, and this boy is back into his life like nothing ever happened! We are so thankful for every single person who donated to his care and we are so appreciative for the lengths we were able to go to to ensure he had the best care possible!
