Haven

Haven, was carefully picked up off the pavement when is journey began. His body was fragile, and the look of despair was in his eyes. Rescuers knew that they had to do something fast. Otherwise, this pup would not make it through the night.

Precious Haven, a 2-year-old terrier mix, was brought into Dorchester Paws as a stray in critical condition, clinging to life. He left on the street where he possibly was hit by an oncoming car, then abandoned to die on the side of the road. He had already suffered multiple bone fractures and 3rd-degree abrasions by the time he was found. Havens open wounds that were so severe that they were beginning to rot. He smelled of putrid infected wounds and was close to death as he lay helpless in horrific pain.

The kind-hearted rescuers at Dorchester Paws refused to give up on Haven and immediately rushed him to the emergency vet. Multiple X-Rays showed the horrific extent of the fracturing of his bones, and he tested heartworm positive. We were all heartbroken, but we were determined to give this pup a chance.

The incredible volunteers and vets at Dorchester paws worked tirelessly to save this pup, and after multiple surgeries, unfortunately, doctors had to remove this sweet boy's leg. After the removal, Haven had ups and downs, and he needed some socialization training after such a traumatizing event. He was fearful at first but has made so much progress with his foster family! He was kept comfortable and loved by all the staff when going through recovery, and he did not miss one belly rub-- ever. His stitches were removed without incident, and the infection he was suffering from healed so well! He is sweet as can be now.

We are so grateful to the fantastic team at Dorchester Paws and all of our extraordinary donors who never gave up on Haven, even when the odds were against him. Without their dedication and commitment, he would not be alive today.

We are so happy to announce that Haven was recently adopted into a loving family and got his genuine second chance at a forever home!
