When rescuers at Quality of Life Rehab & Foster first saw Pepper shriveled in a ball in the middle of the road, their eyes instantly swelled with tears.  This precious little girl was only a puppy - barely even 9 months old -  yet, the pain she has endured and the hardships she has known are unimaginable.

After scooping up Pepper's lean, flea-riddled body, rescuers immediately rushed her home.  However, to say this little girl was malnourished would be an understatement because her trembling body could not even undergo a much-needed bath due to her temperature being too low to register on the thermometer.  Fleas were crawling on just about every crevice of Pepper's body, so she was immediately given a flea treatment, a small meal, fresh water, and subcutaneous fluids while her brittle body was tucked into a warm, cozy blanket.  Bloodwork revealed that her kidneys looked decent, but other values were poor, and she was very anemic.  After spending a few days in the hospital and receiving another blood transfusion, Pepper has since shown improvement.

Pepper's health has improved so much!  As a result, she was adopted by her foster mom!  Quality of Life Rehab & Foster, Inc. had many outstanding applicants for Pepper, but ultimately the decision came down to her foster family.     Thank you to the kind family that chose this angel pup, and thank you to all of the generous people that donated to Pepper's medical needs and her wishlist.  It was very costly to save Pepper's life, and it would have been a considerable hardship had we not received so much support.  It really does take a village!

It wasn't easy to make this happen; it took many people, rescuers, vet staff, and us at CUDDLY to selflessly work together.  Thank you all who contributed in whatever shape and form; because of you, Pepper can finally live the life she deserves in her forever home!
