Yodda

Yodda was not born undeserving. She was not born unworthy of love and respect. And yet, her owner's subjected her to treatment crueler than that given to human criminals. 

At barely one year old, Yodda had been tortured, starved, and abused. But, it didn’t stop there. You see, this innocent girl’s ‘owner’ would drag her brittle body across the scorching hot asphalt until her fur and skin peeled off her legs and nozzle. Then, as if this wasn’t torturous enough, they would hit her and use her as their own personal punching bag until her legs were useless and too weak to stand. On top of all of this, Yodda’s owner would starve her - leaving her weighing half the size for her breed. And because this innocent girl was SO alarmingly malnourished and weak, she couldn’t even defend herself. Instead, she was forced to lay there as every ounce of pain was inflicted on her. Finally, after Yodda’s owner decided they had enough of her, they took her broken, feces-riddled body to animal control where they looked at the staff straight in their eyes and said she was “okay.” 

Well, after one look into Yodda’s defeated eyes, Hoardin’ Huskies jumped into action to become this precious girl’s hero. As we scooped her skeletal body into our car, we cried the entire way home as we could barely imagine the nightmare life she had experienced. The moment Yodda came to us, we promised her the world…and she just got that and so much more. 

Just one day after arriving at NVC Nederland, Yodda stood on her own! Little by little and day by day our sweet Yodda completely transformed. This little fighter’s story touched SO many hearts that she even made national headlines in April as it was the month for Animal Cruelty Prevention! Although Yodda’s story is beyond heartbreaking, it brought awareness to animal cruelty to encourage people to speak out against animal abuse. 

Yodda’s transformation certainly did not happen overnight and it was a long road to recovery, but this sweet girl is a fighter and had a whole village rooting for her every step of the way. Every day we were blown away by how far she had come and her recovery is one of the many reasons why we do what we do. And guess what? The good news doesn’t stop there because our sweet Yodda has been ADOPTED! 

Of course, Yodda’s story was only possible because of our wonderful and generous CUDDLY supporters. Because of you, Yodda has been given a second chance at life and will NEVER know what it feels like to be abused, unloved, and unwanted ever again.
