"As we swung by the shelter, intending only to say goodbye to the rescue coordinator, who we love very much, we came across these two, Hansel and Gretel.
We quite literally stopped in our tracks and knew there was no way we were leaving there without them. These 2 babies are 6-month-old Great Pyrenees puppies that were brought into Dallas Animal Services as strays. They aren’t officially ours due to their stray hold but we were extremely grateful when the shelter allowed us to take them for now so we could at least get them the medical attention they desperately needed. Our vet is suspecting scabies and we’re pretty sure they’re right…. These babies had to have been suffering for an extremely long time and we promised them they will never have to feel this way again."...
To say we were in shock over these pups and their condition would be an understatement. The infestation of mites on the poor duo had begun to completely consume them. It's hard to not feel hopeless in moments like this, where all you can see is the amount of work ahead of you- but we felt the opposite. All we could see was how much life they had ahead of them, and it motivated us to do whatever we could to help them.
We are so happy with the "before and after" of Hansel and Gretel. They look like completely different pups! Their coats have grown back, their skin has completely healed and their personalities have blossomed! We worked as a team to make sure they received frequent baths, their medications, and injections, and we are now looking at the product of all the hard work.
None of this would have happened if it wasn't for your generosity and kindness. Your gifts and donations showed these sweet souls that there are people in their corner, and that want to see them get the second chance that they rightfully deserve! We can't thank you enough for that.
We also want to thank CUDDLY for supporting us, and allowing us to spread the word regarding Hansel and Gretel. Teamwork really made the dream work!
