Scarlet's remarkable story made headlines when the 25-year-old man who tortured, starved, and abused her was charged with animal cruelty for the inhumane treatment of an innocent canine.

Poor Scarlet was discovered by officers in South Texas who responded to a call at a local apartment complex regarding a skinny, emaciated dog imprisoned in a wire cage without food or water and forced to live in her own feces.

Officers were horrified when they first saw Scarlet's rib bones, spine, and hip bones protruding from her malnourished eighteen-pound frame--simply put, poor Scarlet was on the brink of death and needed food and treatment immediately.

Police arrested Scarlet's abuser and safely transported little Scarlet to Saving Animal Lives 24/7 for urgent medical treatment. With her skeletal frame at risk of total disintegration, Scarlet had to put weight on her skinny frame before safely receiving veterinary treatment. Once she reached a healthy weight, Scarlet received dental care, spaying, and basic vetting.

Amazingly, after a lengthy period of healthy feeding and vetting, Scarlet has blossomed into a joyful dog with a fun-loving personality. Best of all, sweet Scarlet was finally adopted into a loving forever home where she is living her best life with a fantastic family.

One of Scarlet's favorite activities is playing in the pool with her family to beat the Texas heat. Scarlet is safe with her new family and continues to grow physically and emotionally. Compared to her previous life as a starving prisoner, Scarlet is finally living the dream as a happy and healthy dog.

Of course, Scarlet's new life wouldn't have been possible without our generous supporters and awesome partners at CUDDLY who helped share Scarlet's remarkable story and made her lifesaving medical treatment possible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking a chance on Scarlet and giving her the life he deserves.
