Whiskey

Back in December of 2022, Whiskey was found on the streets of Albania desperately seeking help from all those who passed by him, but no one stopped. One of our volunteers spotted him and right at that instance, Whiskey collapsed from exhaustion, as if he knew in that moment that he was about to be saved.

Whiskey's body had given out but his will to live was still going strong! We are so grateful to have been able to save him in time and rush him to emergency care. Now it was our turn to give him a chance at life. After undergoing extensive testing, Whiskey was diagnosed with Ehrlichia, Antiplasma, and a severe case of mange that had caused almost all of his hair to fall out and several painful lesions to form on his skin. In addition to his many ailments, Whiskey's body had become emaciated after what could have been months spent scavenging for whatever scraps of food he could find while living on the streets. Whiskey was admitted to the vet under intensive care and immediately began treatment.

After several weeks of treatment, Whiskey was officially negative for any infection on his skin. His lesions had closed, he was slowly but surely gaining weight, and some of his hair was even beginning to grow back. Almost a month and a half after coming into our care, Whiskey was able to leave the hospital and was transferred into the care of a kind gentleman who offered to care for Whiskey until we were able to find him a more permanent home. 

Whiskey, a dog that was once on the brink of death, has now been transformed into a happy healthy, furry boy! His transformation is a testament to the kindness and generosity of the people who saved him. Whiskey's case is a reminder that, despite the challenges we face in the world today, there are still people who are willing to go above and beyond to help those in need. 

Now five months after we first found this boy, moments from death on the side of the road, Whiskey is thriving! While Whiskey is still looking for his forever family, he is currently safe and well-cared-for in boarding in northern Italy, where we pay €150 for him every month. We remain optimistic that Whiskey will find his forever home soon, and we thank everyone who has helped him along the way. Whiskey has gained weight and all of his fur is back, and this handsome boy looks like a brand-new dog! We couldn't be more proud of the progress he has made, and we're grateful to everyone who made this transformation possible through their donations and support.
