Otavio

Little Otavio must have a Guardian Angel watching over him.

We found this poor kitty screaming out in excruciating pain and desperately fighting for his life. Horrifically, Otavio's front paws were deliberately chopped off before he was abandoned and left to die on the streets of Brazil.

His gruesome injuries were already several days old and he had larvae crawling around inside his wounds. To our horror, his flesh was rotten and there were chunks of skin dangling from his bones, claws, and paw pads.

Otavio was rushed to the animal hospital in critical condition; he had a dangerously low body temperature, was extremely dehydrated, and had a very serious infection. He underwent a three-hour-long emergency surgery to remove the remaining dead and infected tissue and clean his wounds. 

Otavio underwent frequent bandage changes after his surgery to prevent infection. His recovery journey has been stressful and challenging, but little Otavio is incredibly resilient and has slowly learned to adapt to his new life without his front legs.

Otavio was graciously taken in by a wonderful foster family who have been providing him with the love and care he desperately deserves. The family even has a lovely cat sister for Otavio to bond and play with. 

The family that has been fostering Otavio ended up falling in love with him and have officially adopted him! We are beyond thrilled for Otavio and this is proof that every rescue animal deserves a fighting chance at a better life. This resilient little boy has bravely overcome the loss of his two front legs, but gained an amazing family in the process. Once his injuries have healed, Otavio will be fitted for special prosthetic legs to give him maximum mobility.
