Bruce’s story is one of torture, torment, and abuse that created visible and invisible wounds just because of the stigma around his breed.

This innocent companion has witnessed and been the target of unspeakable horrors and acts of cruelty from the darkest corners of humanity. His face was in shreds where wounds from teeth tore into his skin and his muzzle and maw looked like it had been mauled in a vicious encounter. Of course, His physical condition was quite painful to behold, but there are still certainly scars we can never see that will never heal for him.

A visit to the emergency vet revealed a harsh reality: Bruce was highly anemic and littered with infection all over, while the albumin levels in his blood signaled severe malnourishment. The doctor knew that, in order to get him the care he needed, the solution would need to start with facial reconstruction surgery.

The operation commenced, and the surgeon proceeded with delicate hands to rebuild Bruce’s snout so that he would be able to start living without discomfort and pain every day. After weeks of recovery, his stitches were removed and he began improving steadily! This was the first spot of joy to come out of this horrid situation.

Our next task was finding this sweet boy a forever home. Due to his newly rediscovered lust for life, this ball of energy needed a full yard to roam and play in by himself. As time went along, however, the list of adoption candidates was few and far between. We were starting to wonder if Bruce would ever find his forever family.

Then, the call came…Bruce was getting adopted! His new mom is a wonderful, sweet, and caring soul who has already fallen head over heels for him! Bruce couldn't be luckier—he now has a spacious yard for his beloved zoomies! After persevering and surviving countless treatments, surgery, and a challenging healing process, Bruce has finally received his second chance at a happy and loving life.
