Today, we have big news to announce… Alfonso has been adopted! Our sweet, gentle giant has found a home where he is surrounded by love and joy. We’re eager to celebrate this huge milestone, but before we break out the confetti, we wanted to take a moment to look back on Alfonso’s rescue story.

When we first met Alfonso in April of 2023, he was barely clinging to life. This sweet boy came into our care with a nasty Upper Respiratory Infection that had already weaseled its way into much of his body. His tail was irreparably injured, causing him debilitating pain. Heartworms infested his heart and lungs, zapping his energy until he wasted away to skin and bones.

We didn't know much about Alfonso's past, nor what other ailments might be lurking beneath the surface, so a full diagnostic workup was ordered. We knew Alfonso's recovery would not be easy or inexpensive, but we made a commitment to nurse this big boy back to health and give him the life he deserved. Our team posted a desperate plea for help on our CUDDLY page, and before we knew it, support came pouring in. 

With YOUR support, we secured enough high-calorie food and supplements to help this Great Dane put on weight. From there, Alfonso had a strong foundation of health that allowed him to start treatment for his deadly Heartworm disease, and even make it through two weeks of medical boarding when his docked tail turned dangerously necrotic. 

Alfonso's care was only growing more costly, but thanks to your generous CUDDLY donations, we were able to give this sweet boy everything he needed to heal. Alfonso still had a long road ahead of him, and we spent the next several months attending to this gentle giant's every need. And now, the moment we’ve been waiting for…

Alfonso is finally where he belongs! After a tumultuous healing journey, Alfonso has found his forever home. He has a new sister named Mango, and they have already become the best of friends. We could not imagine a more perfect match for Alfonso. We wish him every happiness in his new life! Welcome home, sweet boy!
