Bridgette

We are absolutely elated to share that the best owner lovingly adopted Bridgette! This sweet girl had a challenging start, but thanks to your kindness, she has been blessed with a bright new beginning. Let’s take a moment to learn about her journey.

Bridgette's story began in the most heartbreaking way. She was found by a mailman lying in some bushes with a prolapsed uterus. She was rushed to Elk Grove Animal Services, where a rescue plea was urgently sent out. We were there that same day, scooping her into our arms.

Bridgette had fluid in her lungs, an enlarged heart, and liver. Our vets dove into action to repair her prolapsed uterus and tend to the fluid build-up in her lungs. Her heart complications, however, were a different story. She was diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis, a heart condition where the aortic valve narrows, restricting blood flow from the heart to the rest of the body. Also, her aortic valve was leaking. She was put on blood pressure medication to support her body. 

Sadly, there is no valve replacement heart surgery for dogs, so this birth defect is non-operable. She would need careful monitoring for the rest of her life. With management, our cardiologist believed she could live about seven to eight years. 

We initially created a CUDDLY campaign for Bridgette in the hope of raising funds for her emergency care and biannual echocardiograms. These tests were costly but necessary, and we stayed committed to giving her the best care, the best life possible. Thankfully, our community came through, and we were able to give her the care she deserved. Over the next two years, we closely monitored her, doing what we could to keep her comfortable and cared for.

The moment we met Bridgette’s new dad, we knew he was the one. He absolutely adored her, and not a single detail about her difficult past or ongoing medical needs gave him pause. Now, our incredible girl is living the dream in a luxury high-rise in the Bay Area, where she’s truly the belle of the ball.

Her dad is completely devoted to her care, no expense spared. From top-of-the-line food to strict limits on physical activity, treats, and chews that fit her needs, every detail is tailored to her well-being. Of course, he will continue taking her in for biannual exams to ensure she's stabilized. And get this—one of his friends is even stepping in to be her social media manager! She’ll soon have her very own social media page, so all the amazing people who’ve followed her journey can continue to cheer her on.
