Dumped on the street with her tiny, emaciated body absolutely covered in blood-sucking ticks, tiny puppy Lola (FKA Hazel) was clinging to life after enduring some of the most vile and horrific neglect that we have ever seen.
Her skeletal body was covered in ticks. Their thick black shells had become engorged, draining the blood from this tiny, delicate girl. They coated her chest and belly and nestled between her toes. It is hard to imagine that someone was aware of this puppy's deplorable condition and chose to abandon her. We weren’t going to fail Lola the way she had been failed by others before.
Shortly after arriving at the vet clinic, Lola tested positive for Parvovirus. Her situation became critical. Lola received a blood transfusion and also started a new form of treatment for Parvovirus that uses monoclonal antibodies to help her fight the illness. We knew what a precarious situation this poor girl was in and didn’t want to leave any part of her recovery up to chance.
After 7 days hospitalized at Town & Country Veterinary Hospital, we were overjoyed that Lola was finally well enough to go to her foster home. There, she recovered quickly and learned lots of socialization and good behavior from her older foster sister, Daisy. Once Lola reached the age of 6 months, we ensured she was spayed and officially welcomed her into her forever home.
From her dire beginnings, Lola blossomed into a vibrant pup. Now, she is thriving in the midst of a loving family and furry siblings who adore her endlessly. This sweet one’s journey from rags to riches is a testament to the transformative power of compassion and care. We thank you and the CUDDLY community endlessly for saving Lola’s life. Now, here’s to sunny days and sweet treats! We couldn't be happier for you, Lola.
