Blueto

Blueto was dropped off at a high-kill shelter with a swollen, bloodied face and emaciated frame, clearly having endured a life of unimaginable struggle. The uncertainty surrounding his condition was disturbing and uncertain. Was it abuse, dog fighting, or neglect? His previous owner claimed that salmonella poisoning, of all things, was the culprit of his malnourishment. Something about it was strange, rubbing everyone the wrong way. Amidst his pain, however, one thing was clear: Blueto’s gentle spirit shone through, and he desperately needed help. Help that, at the time, was too much for the shelter to provide. He soon faced the grim reality of euthanasia and nearly lost his life due to the abuse someone else inflicted upon him. 

That’s when we stepped in, just in the nick of time, extending our gracious arms to save him. His injuries were difficult to witness. No animal should ever endure that extent of physical trauma. On January 25th, we carefully brought Blueto into our care. At that time, he weighed a mere 29 pounds and was suffering from severe facial necrosis. The medical team worked swiftly, tending to his wounds and providing immediate safety and essential medical treatment. This sweet boy had another chance at life, and we didn’t want that to go to waste on our count! 

Within days, he underwent complex surgical intervention to reconstruct his injured face, removing necrotic, dead tissue and addressing infection. His condition required extensive treatment, including pain management, IV fluids, bloodwork, and a fecal examination. Despite the loss of a large portion of his left facial area, Blueto quickly began showing signs of improved comfort and well-being. 

By February 20th, Blueto had made incredible strides in his recovery. His weight had increased to a healthy 48 pounds, his hair was growing back, and his infections were under control! With ongoing love and care from the rescue team, Blueto’s mental and physical health improved rapidly, and we leaped for joy at the sight of it. 

Soon, Blueto was ready for adoption. He had become social again and adapted well to his new life. His new family from Wisconsin found him through our website, waited for his healing to complete, and finally welcomed him home. Now, Blueto’s life is filled with love, care, and happiness, and it is all thanks to gracious donors like YOU.
