Hallee

Hallee was tragically dumped at an animal control facility by her previous owners. She was confined to a small cage in the very back of the facility, heartbreakingly confused and distraught. Her world, once safe and perhaps even loving, was suddenly filled with fear and uncertainty.

For two months she lived in this terrifying new space where dogs barked and loud noises echoed throughout the cold, dark halls, doors slamming every which way. The chaos caused her to jolt over and over without ever getting a moment to rest. She was constantly on edge, finding refuge in her litter box, which only piled onto her anxiety. When we heard of her story, our hearts shattered. Needless to say, we couldn’t bear to continue watching her slowly waste away in this cruel environment, and graciously stepped up to take her into our care.

When we arrived at the facility, Hallee cowered deeper into her cage, avoiding eye contact and afraid to trust again. But thankfully, we were able to coerce her out and into our open arms. We cradled her close to us as we safely transported her to our warm rescue, where she would be safe and comforted.

Upon her arrival at Finally Home Animal Haven, Hallee was provided a few days of undisturbed space to adjust. Her new cage was made as comforting as possible, with layers of soft blankets and a bed to hide in to feel secure (no longer her litter box). Initially, she refused to eat, but the team continued to leave out various types of food in hopes of enticing her. Gradually, she began to take nibbles at night when she was alone and felt safest.

After a week, our gentle and patient interactions began to show real results. We began carefully reaching into her cage, talking sweetly to her and rubbing her delicate head. Finally, we were rewarded with a hesitant purr. Hallee then began to eat more consistently and slowly came out of her shell, revealing more and more of her personality. Each night brought little triumphs; she would manage to eat a full pouch of food and eventually sought out gentle touches from our team members.

Within two weeks, Hallee's progress truly began to take off. She started feeling secure in the arms of her caregivers, trusting them to hold her! This was a remarkable milestone for this sweet kitty who once was so timid. Although she still retreated to her hiding space when startled, she made the conscious choice to stay with us longer. Over time, after much patience and care, she learned that she was now safe and that we would never abandon her like her previous owners so cruelly had.

As time went on, sweet Hallee flourished into a loving and gentle soul. She learned to trust humans, showcasing the affectionate nature she always had deep down. She would rub up against her hands and purr contentedly when given attention. She even became social with other cats, seeking their companionship and making friends easily.

We are ecstatic to share that this precious girl’s tiresome journey has, at long last, come to an end; she has been ADOPTED by our executive director! We are so happy for Hallee and this beautiful life that has been cultivated for her. Her transformation is truly remarkable, and we are so proud of the progress she’s made despite the hardships she endured.
