Daisy

In the heart of our rescue operations, we've encountered many dogs in need. Yet, Daisy’s devasting story is one that will stay with us forever. Used as a bait dog in cruel dogfighting rings, her face was savagely mutilated, revealing flesh and bone. Shackled by a heavy metal chain around her neck and infested with feasting maggots, she endured the cruelest of abuse at the hands of a disgusting monster.

Upon her rescue, Daisy’s condition was critical. To be honest, we weren’t certain whether or not she was going to make it. Her precious face, brutally ripped apart with skin dangling helplessly, was difficult for even us to look at. She was diagnosed with severe anemia, as she couldn’t eat with her wound, and she had a dangerously rampant infection. Immediate medical attention was necessary, and we knew her journey to recovery would be a deeply challenging one. Daisy’s resilience, however, shone through from the very beginning. This girl was determined to survive.

Her first surgery was a crucial step in her long healing process. Daisy then needed a feeding tube for ten days to help her eat and regain her strength. Around this point, we uploaded a campaign to CUDDLY, and the response was incredible! Donations and gifts soared our way, pouring into our arms and aiding us in these costly yet necessary procedures. The collective support from our gracious community was overwhelming in the best of ways, and we were elated to see so many kind-hearted individuals care for sweet Daisy as much as us. 

By the time Daisy underwent her second surgery, she was ready for a foster home where she could recover. She needed a place away from the stress of a shelter environment so that she could be alone in the comfort of a warm home. She needed desperately to heal, both physically and emotionally. Soon after we sent out plea for help, Daisy was blessed with the most wonderful foster home that provided her with the care and affection she desperately needed.

Day by day, Daisy began to heal, learning for the first time what it felt to be loved and cared for. Her transformation was remarkable. From a dog who faced the darkest days inflicted by cruel humans, barely unrecognizable as a dog, Daisy emerged resilient and strong, ready to face her new, hopeful future! Despite the immense hardships she’s endured, she is a happy and healthy pup who treats every day like a blessing! Sweet Daisy has taught our team how to enjoy every moment as a precious gift.

Daisy is now settling in comfortably at our shelter! We are just amazed at her progress. It is because of YOUR donations through CUDDLY that Daisy’s transformation was possible.
