Coffee Bean

Coffee Bean’s story began when he was tragically struck by a vehicle and left helpless on the side of the road. His fragile body was no match for the two-ton steel that barreled into him, leaving him immobile and in immense pain. Thankfully, a good Samaritan discovered him just in time and, meaning well, called the local animal control. When we found out about the situation, we knew that it was a race against time to save Coffee Bean before he was swept up and possibly euthanized!

Our team SPRANG to action, leaping into our cars and speeding over to the highway where Coffee Bean lay shivering and suffering. We feared a grim fate, anxiously biting our nails raw the entire drive over. Miraculously, we got to him first and swiftly brought him to the vet, bundling him up in warm blankets. It was clear from the start that he was in grave condition; his back legs were completely immobile, his canine tooth hanging limp from his lips, and he was shivering uncontrollably. 

At the clinic, Coffee Bean was provided immediate medical attention; the vets knew that there was no time to waste. X-rays, labs, and pain medication were administered so that we could alleviate his suffering and assess the full scope of the situation at hand. In addition to his injuries from the hit-and-run, he was suffering from a severe mouth infection that needed additional care. Courageously, Coffee Bean pushed through his unimaginable pain, and all the while, we gently stroked his head, ensuring him that he was now safe.

Once the results were thoroughly assessed, it was made clear that surgery was a must. Although it would be quite extensive, it was the only way to relieve this sweet pup from his agonizing suffering. Preparations for his hip luxation surgery began, and we eagerly posted a CUDDLY campaign in hopes that we could raise $3,000 for this life-changing procedure. As a small rescue, we rely on outside support from our gracious community to care for pups like Coffee Bean, especially with such grueling medical needs.

It brings immense joy to share that Coffee Bean’s hip surgery was a success! What an immense relief. After the procedure, he began his recovery at the hospital, where his future mobility looked hopeful. We were also ESTATIC to find that donations and lovely gifts for Coffee Bean began pouring in, helping us fund his extensive medical bills and provide him with toys, treats, and nourishing food to soothe any lingering anxiety and aid him in this period of recovery. We are absolutely blown away by the incredible support we received! Thank you so much!

After some time, Coffee Bean was, at long last, ready to move to his foster home, which was lovingly prepared for his return. While there, his transformation blossomed. From a pup fighting for his life, he became a jubilant dog soaking up the Florida sun on stroller walks. His foster mom and foster brother, Sammy, welcomed him warmly, enabling his personality to shine through. It was as though, from the very beginning, he was already a member of the family! Eventually, his foster mom adopted sweet Coffee Bean, providing him the forever home he has always yearned for. We are so happy for this precious boy!
