Bunny

Bunny's journey began when she was found by local animal control in appalling conditions. Trapped in a crate, she was intentionally starved and left to languish in her own urine and feces. By the time she was discovered, she weighed only 29 pounds, with wounds so gruesome, her bones were left exposed. The stench of her rotting, necrotic skin was absolutely putrid. She was teetering on the brink of death, too weak to even stand. She needed IMMEDIATE medical attention before it was too late. 

Without hesitation, we took Bunny into our care from animal control and swiftly rushed her to the emergency animal hospital. The first day she was there, she was so frail that she stumbled and fell when trying to walk. The medical team faced the daunting task of debriding necrotic tissue that had stretched all the way down to her bones. This critical procedure was the first step of many in her long journey to recovery. 

As days turned into weeks, Bunny's condition started to improve. Under the care of the medical team, she underwent hyperbaric oxygen therapy to support the regeneration of healthy skin. During this time, she had gained 11 pounds, a wonderful milestone that we celebrated ecstatically! However, the expensive medical bills began to pile up, and so we eagerly published a CUDDLY campaign in hopes of receiving some outside support. Yet, throughout this entire time, our dedication to helping Bunny never strayed; we were determined to do anything and everything to save her, regardless of what the future came to be.

After weeks of intensive treatment, Bunny was finally given the green light for another major surgery on April 15th, which would fully close the open gashes along her body. Though the bill was daunting, the surgery was a success, and Bunny emerged looking phenomenal! However, her culture results showed a positive test for E. Coli, which required further monitoring and treatment. Nevertheless, her progress was undeniable; Bunny was beginning to look like the healthy and happy pup she truly was, deep down inside!

We are now SO excited to share that, after months of several procedures and treatments, Bunny found her forever home in Georgia. Her new dad reported that she had adapted beautifully to her new life, finding joy in sunbathing and snuggling with her new family. We are continuously amazed at the progress Bunny has made. When we first laid eyes on her, she was barely alive, and now she is happily living out her dream life! It is truly incredible to witness.
