Fluffy

Fluffy was saved from the brink of death after a vicious attack by a pack of dogs. She was found malnourished, terrified, and barely clinging to life. Now, we can proudly say that she has miraculously transformed into a loveable little pup! 

Fluffy's story began with a brutal assault that left her shaken and stiff from fear for weeks. She was chased off by a pack of vicious dogs when she was just trying to eat food. Then, the most horrific scene unfolded; when she fled to a nearby fountain in an effort to get away, the pack alpha, Mimi, tried to DROWN Fluffy, biting and clawing at her as she held her head beneath the water. Luckily, we intervened just in time, racing over and fending Mimi off sweet Fluffy, saving her with only moments to spare. 

Before she was found, Fluffy lived a challenging life. Often chased away when she tried to eat scraps that we left out for the neighborhood dogs, Fluffy was usually found trembling under cars and hiding from everything and everyone. Oftentimes, we would walk up to her in an attempt to feed her separate from the other dogs, but she refused to eat with us watching. We were finally able to take her into our care when the brutal attack left her near-dead and clinging to life. We were her only hope of survival.

We scooped up Fluffy and held her close to us, but it was clear she was in terrible shape. She bore no visible wounds, but her matted coat likely shielded her from the severe bites. She was terrified to the point of catatonia, a neuropsychiatric disorder that left her limp in our arms. We RUSHED her into our facility, knowing that we had a lot of work to do. 

Fluffy’s journey to recovery began with calming homeopathic medicine; her trauma made it impossible to groom her entirely. Cleaning her matted fur had to be done in stages as to not overwhelm her. The buzzing noise of the shaver terrified her, so we used scissors. She trembled and hid from us still, showing signs of PTSD, social anxiety, and depression. Afraid of the yard and other dogs, she did her business behind furniture. 

Throughout this process, your donations of calming chews and nutritious broth played a pivotal role in her journey to recovery. These treats reduced her anxiety, particularly during thunderstorms. Gradually, Fluffy’s fear began to subside. She grew confident enough to lie in the sunshine and watch other dogs from a distance. She even started accepting treats and ate her favorite food, sardines, directly from our hands! 

Today, Fluffy is now fit, healthy, and much less fearful. While still hesitant around other dogs, she allows smaller ones to lie near her. Her transformation has turned her into a cute, cuddly Cockapoo, ready to find a forever home.
