Once defeated and heartlessly ignored, Hank Williams barely survived on scraps and garbage. His story of neglect is heart-wrenching, but thanks to your generous support, he is now enjoying a loving life with his forever family. Read his remarkable story below!

Hank Williams, once labeled as a neighborhood nuisance, found himself fending for survival in an elderly woman's barn. He was left to live on occasional scraps of food that were tossed his way, barely enough sustenance to keep him alive. The woman never touched him or even approached him, leaving Hank to live a life of harrowing neglect, in complete isolation. Slowly, his spirit began to crumble, his inner light wasting away. 

When animal control arrived, they saw that Hank was suffering from severe mange, yeast-filled ears, an upper respiratory infection, fleas, mites, and heartworm. He had broken teeth, patchy fur that brought forth red, inflamed skin, and innocent eyes that silently pleaded for solace. Hastily, Hank was whisked to our rescue for immediate treatment; there was simply no time to waste. Without a moment’s hesitation, we SPRANG to action, eager to save this sweet boy.

Within the warmth and safety of our facility, Hank received consistent medicated baths and antibiotics to heal his skin and combat secondary infections. He also underwent crucial heartworm treatment to free him from this potentially life-threatening disease. Because of the sheer extent of neglect he endured, his recovery process would require immense time and patience. When he initially arrived, he was so clearly lonely and heartbroken that his soul was on the brink of shattering. But after some nurturing, hands-on care, his spirits gradually began to lift, revealing the kind and innocent pup that had been there all along.

As time progressed, Hank was provided treatment for his severe upper respiratory infection and yeast-infected ears. He was also neutered, and successfully free from heartworms! We continued to give him regular soothing, medicated baths to relieve some itching and heal his skin, each wash revealing more grime and dirt that had been stored away under the holds of his skin. He was prescribed daily antibiotics to assist with his mange, and over time, his fur gradually started to grow back, his skin less inflamed. Despite his recovery being slow due to a compromised immune system, Hank displayed remarkable resilience. He was determined not just to survive, but to LIVE.

Throughout his recovery, Hank’s withered spirit began to blossom back to life, showing visible signs of healing and emotional recovery. Thanks to the gracious donors at CUDDLY, gifts like food, supplies, treats, and toys began POURING into our doors! These wonderful donations helped aid Hank throughout this lengthy recovery process and filled his once-sorrowful eyes with bounding joy. To witness this sweet boy come to life in this way was truly incredible.

Then, the most remarkable thing happened. Hank was ADOPTED by a loving woman who discovered his story on CUDDLY! After following along Hank’s recovery journey for some time, she just knew that he was the perfect pup for her. She drove 16 hours to bring him home, ensuring Hank's future was filled with the nourishment and care he had always deserved. He is now enjoying his life on a lake-front property, soaking in the sun and surrounded by unwavering love! He will never be abandoned again.
