Bella

Bella was abandoned by her previous owners in critical condition. A large, gruesome tumor weighed her down, she had severely matted fur, and she suffered from numerous other ailments. Thankfully, that's now all in the past, and Bella is living out the rest of her golden years in the warmth and comfort of her forever home!

When Bella was brought to the vet by her previous family, things looked bleak. The little 8-pound dog was carrying a monstrous 3-pound tumor that caused her immense discomfort and unimaginable agony. Her fur was matted, and her nails were painfully overgrown. Her owner, dismissive, saw her suffering as a burden too heavy to bear and requested that she be euthanized. But thankfully, fate had a different plan.

The attending vet refused to accept that Bella’s life was expendable and reached out to CAMO Rescue for help. Of course, we agreed to care for her, not wanting her to suffer any longer. As soon as Bella arrived under our care, she was given the thorough medical attention she desperately needed. She was provided pain medications and antibiotics to temporarily ease her discomfort as we planned out the critical surgery necessary to remove the massive tumor.

Bella underwent her first surgery with incredible resilience. We were able to remove the weighty tumor and provide immediate relief to her fragile little frame. However, her road to recovery was far from over. Additional tumors were detected soon after, and so Bella needed another surgery. During these proceedings, it was also discovered that Bella had never been spayed – a simple procedure that could have prevented the mammary tumors from occurring in the first place.

Following the second surgery, this brave pup healed remarkably well. Thanks to the compassionate care provided by her foster family, as well as the incredible CUDDLY donations that began pouring in, Bella slowly regained her strength and learned how to enjoy life again. She was putting on weight and carefully transformed into the loving, affectionate pup we knew she was all along.

By June, Bella was strong enough for her final surgery, which also included necessary dental work to mend her rotting, plaque-filled teeth. Truthfully, it was a miracle that this sweet girl had been holding on for so long. Her past must have been so hard, and we are just so proud of how far she has come, enduring each treatment and recovery period like a champ.

Once her painful past was surgically and emotionally put behind her, Bella was a bright, loving dog without the burdens she once carried. We graciously put her up for adoption, and within time, her transformation came full circle. She was adopted by a loving family who cherishes her dearly and loves her for all of her uniqueness and quirks. Her journey from abandonment to a nurturing home is a powerful reminder of what love and compassion can do.
