Teddy

Teddy’s harrowing journey began when he was found in excruciating pain, dragging his shattered body around for over 72 hours and barely clinging to life. His back limbs were severely injured, one completely severed with exposed bone and the other internally damaged. When we discovered him, he had a fresh haircut, indicating that he was once a pet. We believe that his previous owners horrifically dumped him, not wanting to care for his grueling injuries.

Vets suspected that he was struck by a car and never received proper help. The muscles in his legs had deteriorated to almost nothing, leaving us to believe that this hit-and-run had happened quite a bit ago; this sort of worsening injury does not happen overnight. For days, Teddy’s cries for help were ignored until someone finally intervened. They hastily alerted our rescue, and we sprang to action in a desperate attempt to save him. 

Teddy needed immediate care and an amputation of his severed leg to prevent further suffering. We carefully scooped him up and raced him to the animal hospital. Before proceeding with the surgery, Teddy underwent extensive blood tests, which revealed infections and anemia, alongside an assessment of possible spinal injuries. The initial surgery was a success, though his anemia and excessive blood loss prevented simultaneous neuter surgery. His journey to recovery continued with veterinarians monitoring him closely and ensuring he felt as safe and happy as possible. 

In addition to the successful amputation, Teddy began physiotherapy and laser therapy sessions. Over time, this showed promising signs of feeling in his remaining hind leg; there was hope that he could walk again, even if it was just on three legs. Teddy has continued to receive therapy, and each session has brought him one step closer to a somewhat normal life. 

Throughout his recovery, Teddy's resilient spirit continued to shine through. This sweet pup captivated the hearts of everyone who cared for him, especially one of the veterinarians at the hospital. This bond turned into a heartwarming ending when the vet decided to adopt Teddy! She is committed to continuing his physiotherapy sessions and ensure his recovery is fully complete. We are just so happy for the two of them! 

Today, Teddy is thriving in his new forever home. Through love and unwavering care, he is able to live the dream life he has always wanted. Slowly, he is adjusting to his new way of life, but there’s no doubt that he is filled with joy and gratitude.
